> ## Agent Instructions
> Enclave in these docs is the code and cloud security platform at enclave.ai. It is not Open Enclave, Intel SGX or other hardware enclaves, or enclave.gg.
> People use Enclave in the web app at https://app.enclave.ai or the desktop app. These docs describe no public Enclave API or CLI, so don't invent endpoints, commands, or config files.
> Connecting an integration needs a person to sign in and approve access in a browser. Tell the user the exact step to take instead of saying you completed it.

# Triggers

> Start workflow runs automatically on events or a schedule.

A trigger starts a run automatically. Without one, a workflow runs only when you [start it](https://docs.enclave.ai/workflows/runs.md#start-a-run). A workflow can have up to five triggers.

## Events

| Event | Fires when |
| - | - |
| `finding.created` | A new finding is saved |
| `finding.verified` | A finding passes verification |
| `pull_request.updated` | A pull request is opened or updated |
| `repository.pushed` | New commits reach the default branch |
| `repository.connected` | A repository connects |

The event fills the workflow's matching input. For example, `finding.created` passes the new finding.

## Schedules

A schedule uses a cron expression and a time zone, for example `0 8 * * 1-5` in `America/New_York` for 8:00 every weekday. Schedules run at most once an hour and use fixed inputs, such as the repository to run on.

## Conditions

Add a condition so an event trigger only fires when it matters. Conditions are JSONPath expressions over the event.

| Goal | Condition |
| - | - |
| Only higher-severity findings | `$.severityRank >= 3` |
| Only pull requests into `main` | `$.baseBranch == "main"` |
| Only pull requests from forks | `$.isFork == true` |

`pull_request.updated` skips forks unless the condition checks `isFork`.

## Manage triggers

* Include a trigger when you [create the workflow](https://docs.enclave.ai/workflows/create.md), or add more through the API.
* Use the **Triggers** switch on the **Workflows** page to turn them all on or off.
* Each trigger runs at most 50 times a day and 3 at a time.

Only owners and admins can change triggers. If a trigger loses access to what it needs, Enclave turns it off. Fix the cause and turn it back on.
