Connect Slack so your team can ask Enclave questions without leaving Slack. Mention @Enclave in a channel or send it a direct message, and Enclave answers in a thread.

Before you start

  • You need the Owner or Admin role in Enclave.
  • One Enclave organization connects to one Slack workspace.
  • Install Enclave into a Slack workspace, not an Enterprise Grid organization.
  • Connect from Enclave in your browser. The desktop app can’t complete Slack’s sign-in.
If your workspace requires app approval, Slack sends a request to your workspace admins instead of installing Enclave. Ask a Slack admin to approve Enclave, or to connect it for you.

Connect Slack

1

Open integrations

Open Settings → Integrations in app.enclave.ai. Click Connect next to Slack.
2

Add Enclave to Slack

Click Add to Slack. Slack asks you to approve Enclave for your workspace. Click Allow.Back in Enclave, your workspace appears under Workspace.
3

Invite @Enclave to a channel

In Slack, open a channel and invite the app, for example with /invite @Enclave. Enclave only sees threads in channels it’s part of.

Who can ask

Enclave matches each Slack user to an Enclave member by their confirmed Slack email. Someone who isn’t a member gets a private Request access button that notifies your admins. Slack Connect guests and members of other workspaces can’t ask.

Using Enclave in Slack

  • In a channel: mention @Enclave with your question. Enclave answers in a thread. In an existing thread, it also reads up to 15 earlier messages for context.
  • In a thread: once Enclave has joined, every reply is a question. You don’t need to mention it again. Start a message with (aside) to keep it from Enclave.
  • In a direct message: use the Enclave app’s Messages tab. Only you can read the conversation.
Anyone in your organization can join a thread. Enclave answers each person with their own permissions. Each answer ends with an Open this chat in Enclave link. When Enclave wants to save a memory, it asks in the thread with Approve and Reject buttons.

Slack threads in Enclave

Each Slack thread is a Research session. Messages you write in Enclave post to the thread under your name.

Privacy

  • Everyone in a thread can read the whole session.
  • Replies are visible to everyone in the channel, including guests. Ask sensitive questions in a private channel or a DM.
  • Enclave doesn’t post in channels shared with another organization.
  • Findings and workflow runs never post to Slack.

Manage the connection

Open Settings → Integrations → Slack.
  • Reconnect appears when the workspace shows Reconnect to grant new permissions. A newer Enclave feature needs a permission your install doesn’t have. Click it to approve the new permissions.
  • Remove removes Enclave from the Slack workspace. Existing sessions stay in Enclave. If Slack doesn’t confirm the uninstall, remove the Enclave app in Slack yourself.

Troubleshooting

Check that @Enclave is in the channel and that the workspace still appears in Settings → Integrations → Slack. In a reply, Enclave only answers in threads it has already joined. Mention it to bring it into a new thread.
Your Slack profile has no email, or Slack hasn’t confirmed it. Confirm your email in Slack, then try again.
Your Slack email doesn’t match an Enclave account in this organization. Click Request access, or ask an admin to invite your Slack email. If you already have an Enclave account under a different email, Enclave can’t match it yet.
Your role doesn’t include access to Research. Ask an admin to change your role. See Roles and permissions.
The channel is a Slack Connect channel. Ask in a channel that’s internal to your workspace.
The answer stopped early or failed. Click Open this chat in Enclave to see what happened, then send another message in the thread to try again.
You’re using the desktop app. Open app.enclave.ai in a browser to connect or reconnect Slack.
